Marketing is the easiest service in Nepal to sell badly, because the deliverable looks like activity. Posts went out. Impressions went up. The report is twelve pages long. None of that tells you whether the business made money. If you are choosing a digital marketing company in Kathmandu, the job is to find the one that will be honest with you about cost per customer — and to recognise the ones who will keep you looking at the wrong numbers.
Ask Which Metric They Will Be Judged On
Start the first conversation by asking what number they expect to be held accountable for. If the answer is reach, impressions, followers or engagement rate, you are being sold visibility. If the answer is qualified enquiries, cost per lead, or return on ad spend, you are being sold business. Both have a place, but only one pays salaries. Agree the metric before the contract, because afterwards the reporting will be built around whatever was agreed.
Make Them Look at Your Website First
Most campaigns in Nepal fail for a reason that has nothing to do with the campaign. Traffic arrives at a site that takes six seconds to load on a mobile connection, has no clear next step, and sends form submissions to an inbox nobody checks. A good agency will audit that before proposing a budget, and will sometimes tell you to fix the site before spending on ads. An agency that takes your ad budget without ever opening your site is not managing your money carefully.
Local SEO Is Where Kathmandu Businesses Win or Lose
For most businesses here, the highest-value search is not a broad national keyword — it is somebody nearby searching with intent to act. That traffic is won through your Google Business Profile, consistent name-address-phone details across the web, genuine reviews, and location signals on your site. Ask any prospective agency to explain their approach to your Business Profile specifically. If they treat it as an afterthought, they are ignoring the largest single factor in local visibility.
Understand Exactly Where Your Money Goes
There are two separate amounts: the fee you pay the agency, and the budget you pay Google or Meta. These should be clearly separated, and the platform spend should go directly from your account to the platform. If an agency insists on running ads from their own account with your money inside it, you lose visibility into what was actually spent and you lose the ad account history if you ever leave. Ask for admin access to your own properties in writing.
Beware of Anyone Guaranteeing Rankings
Nobody controls Google's index. An agency can guarantee the quality and consistency of the work, a clear method, and honest reporting. It cannot guarantee position one by a fixed date, and a firm that does is either inexperienced or counting on you not checking. The same applies to promises of a specific number of leads before anyone has looked at your market or your margins.
Ask What Happens in Month Four
SEO and content compound slowly; paid ads produce results quickly but stop the moment you stop paying. A serious agency will explain that difference, tell you which one your goals actually need, and be clear about when you should expect to see movement. Anyone promising fast organic results is describing something either impossible or short-lived.
Our Position
ZilFox is a digital marketing company in Kathmandu that started as an engineering company, and it changes how we work: we look at the site, the funnel and the tracking before we look at the budget. We are at 29, Ghattekulo Marga, our SEO packages and ad management fees are published in our FAQs rather than hidden behind a call, and platform spend always goes directly from your account. If you would like an honest read on why your current marketing is not converting, we will give you one whether or not you hire us.
